I’m working with one of the world’s most respected quantitative investment firms to hire a Systems Administrator into their technology team based in Singapore.
This isn’t a traditional systems administration role, and it certainly isn’t an environment where infrastructure is viewed as a back-office function. Technology sits at the heart of the firm’s success, and every system, workstation, communication platform and piece of infrastructure is expected to operate to an exceptionally high standard.
The team is looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, understanding how technology works, and making complex systems feel effortless for the people who rely on them every day. While the role involves providing hands-on support to users, the expectation goes far beyond resolving tickets. You’ll be trusted to identify patterns, improve processes, automate repetitive work and continually raise the standard of the environment.
You’ll work across an incredibly diverse technology estate spanning enterprise Windows and Linux systems, desktop engineering, communications platforms, storage, clustered computing, mobile technologies, AV systems and datacentre infrastructure. No two days look the same, and the breadth of exposure is difficult to find elsewhere.
The environment attracts people who are naturally curious and enjoy learning. The strongest engineers here don’t stop once they’ve fixed a problem—they want to understand why it happened, how it can be prevented, and whether it can be solved in a better, more scalable way. If you enjoy researching unfamiliar problems, experimenting with new technologies and continuously improving how systems are managed, you’ll fit in well.
Although this role is highly technical, success also depends on your ability to work with people. You’ll partner closely with colleagues across the business, supporting a sophisticated user base while collaborating with global engineering teams on infrastructure projects and operational improvements. The ability to communicate clearly, build relationships and provide an outstanding user experience is valued just as highly as technical capability.
The bar is exceptionally high. The people who thrive here are intellectually curious, analytical and motivated by solving difficult problems. The firm places far greater emphasis on aptitude, achievement and the ability to learn than ticking every box on a technical checklist.
Key areas of experience include:
This is an opportunity to join one of the world’s elite technology organisations, surrounded by exceptionally talented engineers who care deeply about building reliable systems, solving difficult technical challenges and continually improving the technology that underpins the firm’s success.
