Senior Arista Network Engineer — Data Centre Architecture & VXLAN

Base Salary: £75,000 – £85,000 + Benefits

I am supporting a specialist network and infrastructure organisation that is seeking a deeply technical Arista Network Engineer to shape, design and deliver large-scale data centre environments. This is not an operations role – it’s a senior engineering position for someone who understands modern fabric architectures end-to-end and can make decisions at a strategic technology level.

You will be the subject matter expert on Arista platforms, driving engineering standards across data centre buildouts, VXLAN/EVPN deployments, and multi-tenancy designs. This role requires both strong theoretical understanding and proven practical experience delivering distributed, resilient network infrastructures at scale.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead the architectural design and implementation of Arista-based data centre solutions
• Own end-to-end fabric deployments including VXLAN / EVPN / leaf-spine topologies
• Define and enforce engineering standards, reference architectures, and design best practices
• Collaborate with automation, operations and delivery teams to turn concepts into production environments
• Troubleshoot highly complex network behaviours and performance bottlenecks
• Produce design documentation, topology diagrams, and operational procedures
• Act as a senior technical voice in customer engagements and internal discussions

What You Bring

• Arista expert-level technical capability, ideally with the relevant Arista certification (ACE-P or equivalent senior accreditation)
• Strong hands-on experience building or operating modern data centre fabrics
• Proven background with:
  • VXLAN / EVPN
  • Leaf-spine architectures
  • Multi-tenant segmentation
  • Underlay vs overlay design decisions
• Excellent understanding of L2/L3 connectivity models, routing protocols, HA and scale-out approaches
• Ability to think in terms of long-term architecture, not just device configuration
• Confidence advising stakeholders and justifying engineering decisions with facts and experience

You have real-world experience connecting theory to production environments — and your instinct is to simplify, optimise, and design for longevity.

Working Pattern

• Hybrid: 2 days a week
• Client-site visits and hands-on DC work when required
