Markets Software Engineer

Location: Hybrid – Chicago (3+ days/week preferred) | NYC optional

I’m working closely with my client’s CTO following a successful senior hire into their security team and off the back of that, we’ve been requested to support this new opportunity. This is a critical hire for a tech start-up seeking a Market Software Engineer who thrives in fast-paced, high-growth environments. The role blends hands-on coding, architecting scalable systems, and ensuring the reliability and performance of core infrastructure as the company scales.

What you will be Doing: 

• Design/Implement systems infrastructure with a focus on reliability, performance and automation
• Develop and maintain platform
• Develop and maintain testing to ensure seamless integration of infrastructure components.
• Conduct Code Reviews and mentor junior members

Key Requirements: 

• Proficiency in C++, Go, Python, Java or Rust
• Familiarity with FIX and other standard market/order entry protocols

Desirables:

• A degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience working in start-ups or high-growth, fast-moving environments.
• Interest or background in trading systems, market infrastructure, or renewables.
