Managing Director, Digital Forensics

Location: United States, flexible

Base Salary: $240,000+

Additional Compensation: Commission on originated revenue, bonus potential

We are partnered with a specialist US consulting firm looking to appoint an established Managing Director within its Digital Forensics practice.

This is not a traditional management-only position. The firm operates a practitioner-led model where senior experts personally develop client relationships, originate work and remain directly involved in complex forensic engagements.

The successful individual will already have a strong reputation within Digital Forensics and electronic evidence, an established network of law firm and corporate relationships, meaningful expert testimony experience and a proven ability to generate their own revenue.

The role

You will operate with significant autonomy, effectively running and growing your own practice while benefiting from the infrastructure, technical resources and collaborative environment of an established consulting business.

Responsibilities will include:

• Lead complex, multi-source digital forensic investigations
• Advise law firms and corporate clients on forensic strategy and electronic evidence
• Lead matters from initial scoping through forensic analysis, reporting and testimony
• Provide expert reports, affidavits, declarations, deposition and courtroom testimony
• Conduct rebuttal analysis and respond to opposing forensic experts
• Maintain and expand your own client relationships
• Originate new engagements through existing relationships, referrals, market activity and new business development
• Lead pitches, RFPs and strategic client discussions
• Mentor developing Directors and forensic practitioners
• Contribute to wider practice strategy, hiring and growth

What we are looking for

• Approximately 15+ years of Digital Forensics or forensic technology experience
• A career grounded in professional services or consulting
• Established expertise across electronic evidence, forensic examination and complex investigations
• Strong experience working directly with law firms and major corporate clients
• Substantive expert testimony experience, ideally including deposition and cross-examination
• A recognised profile within the Digital Forensics market
• Experience building or leading a team, practice or service offering
• An established, personally attributable and portable book of business

The target at Managing Director level is approximately $1.5M+ in individually originated annual revenue, with relationships that are genuinely associated with you rather than solely with your current employer.
