Head of Security Engineering

We’re looking for a highly technical Security Engineering leader to join a world-leading quantitative investment firm in New York, operating in an environment with an exceptionally high engineering bar and some of the strongest technical talent in the market.

We’re particularly interested in leaders who have spent time in small security teams, early-stage companies or environments where they’ve had to own security beyond one narrow specialism, before going on to lead and develop high-performing engineering teams.

Your strongest technical experience will likely sit within Detection & Response, but we’re interested in people with broader security engineering experience across infrastructure, cloud, endpoint, identity, incident response and automation.

We need someone who can lead strong engineers while remaining close enough to the technology to personally get involved in difficult problems.

We’re particularly interested in people who have:

• Built modern detection and response capabilities.
• Led technically strong security engineering teams.
• Used software engineering, automation and data to solve security problems.
• Operated across multiple areas of security rather than one narrow specialism.
• Personally taken ambiguous security problems from idea through to production.
• Strong technical judgement around build vs buy.
• Experience with, or strong opinions on, how AI and agentic systems will change security operations.

We’re open to people from technology, fintech, security vendors, infrastructure/cloud and other engineering-led environments. Financial services experience isn’t required.

The common thread is someone who has built, owned and led, and who strong engineers would still turn to when something difficult needs solving.
