Senior Security Engineer

This is an opportunity where curiosity is one of the main traits my client is looking for, you must be curious about technology and security. For example, do you have a home lab where you test out certain tools and technologies. This is just an example, a home lab isn’t required, however I am trying to demonstrate the type of engineer and personality my client is looking for and does well in their organisation.

Let’s start with what my client isn’t looking for:

• Someone who is operations focused
• Mainly works on deploying FWs
• Waits to be told what to do vs being proactive and bringing solutions to the table
• Junior Engineer
• Network Engineers with an interest in security

This is a role for:

• A Senior Security Engineer with the ability to work on a lot of different things. You must know how to engineer
• Someone who understands design and implementation and how and why you are doing something
• A demonstrable interest in security and a curious mindset
• Problem solvers who like to work is changing technology environments

Yes, this is a Network Security Engineer position, but I am not looking for your traditional “network security” professional, this role is a lot more than that and much wider across Cybersecurity. Your tech stack isn’t important, if you know who to engineer Cisco or Palo Alto technology as an example, then you can do so with other products and tools. You will be the first London based Senior Security Engineer looking at network security engineering, so it’s important you have the ability to work in smaller and global teams.

To give you a taste of some of the current project this team is working on:

• Hardware swap out of Palo Alto to new hardware
• Look at bringing in a third party FW tool, so a lot of research and development is required
• Automation – research and development again is required as they look to how best automate their environment
