AI ML Engineer

We’re hiring a first-hire AI/ML Engineer for a legal tech company based in Washington, DC (hybrid). This is a hands-on role building intelligent systems that process large volumes of legal and government documents – from scanned PDFs to handwritten records.

This role is about autonomy, ownership, and production-level delivery. You’ll be building the data science function from the ground up.

What you’ll be working on:

• Designing and deploying OCR pipelines to handle unstructured and degraded data
• Automating redaction of sensitive information (PII, PHI, classified content)
• Building LLM-based summarization and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems
• Leading end-to-end ML workflows: from preprocessing to deployment

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has 2+ years in ML/NLP with experience in OCR or document parsing
• Is fluent in Python and frameworks like PyTorch, HuggingFace, LangChain, etc.
• Has experience with unstructured data and production-grade deployments
• Can lead independently, without waiting to be told what to build
